@icefox one place I still find dynamic typing useful is when I'm building out UIs: on many occasions I've found it very helpful to say "this is a TextField with additional properties p1 and p2", and then refer to property p1 and p2 in code without special syntax
you can certainly emulate that in a statically-typed system with a map and an any type, though (and I get the feeling that's what e.g. QML ends up doing anyway)
